Art21 Film: Spirituality – Monday, March 25
Art21 Film - Spirituality: How does contemporary art address the idea of
spirituality? How do artists working today reveal and question commonly held
assumptions about faith, belief, meditation, and religious symbols? The
"Art in the Twenty-First Century" documentary “Spirituality” explores
these questions through the work of the artists Beryl Korot, Ann Hamilton, John
Feodorov, Shahzia Sikander, and James Turrell.
Join us for a "brown bag" lunch, refreshments, a movie, craft
and discussion... for adults interested in Art.
Over the past decade, Art21 has established
itself as the preeminent chronicler of contemporary art and artists through its
Peabody Award-winning biennial television series, "Art in the Twenty-First
Century." The nonprofit organization has used the power of digital media
to introduce millions of people of all ages to contemporary art and artists and

Social Networking: Your Kids are On it - You Should Be Too - March 27 @ NOON
Today's
kids have access to so many ways to communicate that it can be boggling. Join Tom Duffy, Chair of the Computer Science
Department at Norwalk Community College, for a lunchtime workshop to help
de-mystify social networking. Tom will
discuss the predominate tools your kids are using and how you can help them
avoid a disastrous mistake. Everything
from Internet filtering to Facebook to Instagram to text messaging will be on
the table. Nothing is off-limits! Wednesday, March 27 at 12 noon at the
Rowayton Library. Professor Tom Duffy is
the Chair of the Computer Science Department and the Program Coordinator for
the Computer Science degree. He teaches
courses in Web Development, XML, Java, and Mobile Devices. Tom holds a Bachelor of Science degree in
Mathematics and Master of Arts degree in Mathematics/Computer Science from
Western Connecticut State University. He is the owner of Bright Moments
Software - a software company specializing in Web Technologies. Tom has recently published Programming With
Mobile Applications, his second book. Brown-bag

The
Rowayton Library presents MovieTime for Kids with "Rise of the
Guardians" (rated PG) on Friday afternoon, March 22 @ 3:30pm. The runtime is 97 minutes.
When
the evil spirit Pitch launches an assault on Earth, the Immortal Guardians team
up to protect the innocence of children all around the world. Based on William
Joyce's the Guardians of Childhood book series, Rise of the Guardians. (Ages 7 and older)
Popcorn will be served. This program is free and open to the public.
MovieTime: Life of
Pi – in the evening
The Rowayton Library presents
MovieTime for Everyone with "Life of Pi" (rated PG) on Friday
evening, March 22 @ 7pm. The runtime is
123 minutes.
Embark
on the adventure of a lifetime in this visual masterpiece from Oscarr winner
Ang Lee, based on the best-selling novel. After a cataclysmic shipwreck, young
Pi Patel finds himself stranded on a lifeboat with the only other survivor - a
ferocious Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. Bound by the need to survive, the
two are cast on an epic journey that must be seen to be believed.
