Nutmeg Book Award Nominees Announced

This year the Nutmeg Book Award committee has created four separate lists of nominees.

• NEW Elementary Level for Grades 2, 3 and 4 (15 titles)
• Intermediate Level for Grades 4, 5 and 6 (10 titles)
• Teen Level for Grades 7 and 8 (10 titles)
• High School Level for Grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 (10 titles)

Calling all LEGO fans that are up for a series of construction challenges. Each participant’s best work will be showcased in the library’s display cases.

Scams: Prepare Yourself sponsored by Fairfield County Bank Wednesday, May 20 – 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Don McGran, Security Advisor at Fairfield County Bank, will discuss the many current scams that are being employed against citizens in our area. Frauds can occur online, via telephone, in the mail, or in person. Many of these frauds are targeted at the elderly in our community. Recognition is the key to your protection. Don will give tips on how to recognize these scams and prevent falling prey to them. If you are a victim of a scam, Don will present you with the resources that are available to you. He will also discuss Identity Theft prevention and safe banking practices.

Don McGran is a 30-year veteran of the Ridgefield Police Department and graduate of Western Connecticut State University and the FBI National Academy. As Security Advisor at Fairfield County Bank for the past two years, Don is involved on a daily basis with advising customers and staff on the world of financial fraud.

Tapping Your People’s Potential, Co-sponsored by SCORE of Norwalk, Tuesday, May 20 – 6 to 8 p.m.

On-site registration begins at 5:30 p.m.

In this highly interactive workshop, Richard Lewine presents a time proven, 9 step goal setting process. His explanation of the technology and art of goal setting, along with Mr. Lewine’s proprietary tools, ensure that each member can use the technology after they leave the working session.

Attendees will learn about tapping people’s untapped potential; focusing on what you want, not what you think you will get; results management vs. endless meetings; tracking with key function indicators; aligning personal and business goals; strategic vs. operational goals; and cascading organizational goals systems.
