Annual Rowayton Library Haiku Contest

All month long in April to celebrate National Poetry Month

Calling poets of all ages! Everyone is encouraged to participate by submitting one to three haiku poems to the library. A haiku is an original poem of 17 syllables in three lines written in the following format:

  • Line 1 has five syllables, Line 2 has seven syllables, Line 3 has five syllables

The poems should have a theme related to nature or a season. Poems including inappropriate content will be disqualified.

Please send haiku submissions to haiku@rowayton.org or turn in legibly written poems to the library. Each poem should have the author’s name, address and corresponding email address.

The last day to send in submissions is Wednesday, April 30. Winners for various age groups will be announced on Wednesday, May 7 and displayed at the library.
