The Rowayton Library offers its patrons Freegal (rhymes with legal) - a collection of downloadable media. Freegal is a service of Library Ideas that offer access to songs from Sony Music's catalog of legendary artists.
With your valid Rowayton Library card number*, you have
access to hundreds of thousands of music to download for FREE. Each
patron has a limit of 3 downloads per week. The Rowayton Library and its
"Freegal Sponsors" have underwritten the purchase of the music.
No extra software is needed to
access Freegal. Each download is in mp3 format, so the files will work
for both PCs and Macs for use on Windows Media Player
& iTunes. The mp3s may also be transferred to your smartphone or
tablet. There is also an APP for iPhone, Android and Blackberry devices that allow for direct downloads, but you may find a direct download to your computer or iTunes and then a transfer to the intended listening device to be a little easier - your choice.
If you don't know your Rowayton Library card number, contact the Rowayton Library and we will be happy to give you a "Freegal" card with your library bard code on it as a reminder.
