Storytimes for Children
Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:30 a.m.
Young ones ages 4 and under are invited along with their caregivers to listen to stories, participate in rhymes and sing songs. Just drop in!


Suzuki Babies presented by Talent Education Suzuki School (TESS)
Monday, October 13 at 10:30 a.m. (Open for Columbus Day)
Thursday, October 23 at 10:30 a.m.
An interactive music class for babies and toddlers ages 0-3 and their parents/caregivers. Enjoy watching your child develop rhythmic and melodic awareness, memory and social skills. Begin building a repertoire of lullabies, action songs and nursery rhymes. Space is limited, so please register at 203.838.5038.
Kids Tech: Minecraft Mods Series
Three-week Series: Tuesdays – October 14 and 21 from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m.
Most mods in Minecraft add content to the game to alter gameplay, change the creative feel or give the player more options in how they interact with the Minecraft world. Sign up for this series if you want to learn how to become a more accomplished “modder” or if you are new to installing these modules. Sign up now—for kids ages 9 and up. Kids Tech: Scratch for Beginners Series
Three-week Series: Wednesdays – October 15 and 22 from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m.
In this three-class series kids ages 8 and up will learn basic coding and animation through software developed by MIT. Create animated characters, develop game strategy and apply game mechanics in order to create your own video game that will be uploaded to the web. Space is limited to seven, so please register at 203.838.5038.


Kids Tech: Intermediate Scratch Meets Makey Makey
Three-week Series: Fridays – October 17 and 24
For kids with basic knowledge of Scratch who are ages 8 and up, this series teaches new skills, introduces a fun product and then connects the two.
- October 17 – Find out some of the many amazing things  
Makey Makey can do.
- October 24 – Use what you have learned in the previous
sessions to create a cool mash-up of these two technologies.

Maker Monday: Kids Tech Introduces Makey Makey
Monday, October 20 from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m.
MaKey MaKey is an invention kit for the 21st century. Turn everyday objects into touchpads and combine them with the Internet. It's a simple invention kit for beginners and experts doing art, engineering, and everything in between. Sign up now to explore, invent and create in ways you’ve never imagined. Author Visit: Paige McBrier Chats about New Book, Abracadabra Tut
Thursday, October 23 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Rowayton resident Page McBrier is the author of over 40 books for young readers, including the award-winning New York Times bestseller, Beatrice’s Goat. In addition to her busy writing career, Page works as a teaching artist for the Connecticut Office of the Arts. Her arts-infused residencies playfully blend theater, movement, drawing and writing into the school curriculum.


We are please to help her celebrate her newest book, Abracadabra Tut. It is a story that combines time travel, magic, Ancient Egypt, mystery and friendship to create a true-page turner you will not want to put down. Come hear about the book and her writing process. As she wrote, new technological developments allowed for more insight into the intriguing world of King Tut. Book purchases and signing to follow. For students in grades 4-6. Talent Education Suzuki School (TESS) presents Kids for Kids Concert
Saturday, October 25 at 2 p.m. – Piano

Come to this concert designed for families with children ages 3-8 years old to learn musical concepts and information about musical instruments. Children from the school will perform, and young audience members will have an opportunity to try the musical instruments themselves. Please register at 203.838.5038.


Scary Tales for Those Who Dare with Laconia Therrio
Wednesday, October 29 at 6:45 p.m.
In cooperation with the Rowayton Gardeners
Laconia (“Lot”) Therrio returns to Rowayton to tell tales that may send a shiver up your spine. This master storyteller, with a repertoire of stories to engage listeners of all ages, will thrill you with tales slightly scary and deliciously spooky. Finish up the Rowayton Gardeners’ Pumpkin Stroll in the Library Courtyard with a sip of apple cider and an evening of rich storytelling.


As a professional storyteller Mr. Therrio tells stories in schools, libraries, corporations…or wherever stories can be told. Believing that stories remind us more of our commonalities than our differences, his repertoire include stories from the Americas, the African continent, Europe and Asia. Whether folktale or myth, fable or scary, he invites the listener to discover the wonder of each tale.


Crafty Thursday: Transylvania vs. Ancient Egypt
Thursday, October 30 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Halloween is almost here! Come discover the myths and symbols of the mysterious land of vampires (Transylvania) and the intriguing time of potions and superstitious beliefs (Ancient Egypt). Then use your creative skills to craft a mini vampire coffin or sarcophagus. A spooky treat and apple cider will be served. For kids in grades K and up. Halloween Special Early Childhood Music and Movement with Ms. Deirdre
Friday, October 31 from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m.
Children ages 5 and under are invited to come in costume so they can sing, dance, play instruments…and for the big finale—march in a musical Halloween parade! Please register at 203.838.5038.
