Art21 Film – Paradox:  How do contemporary artists address contradiction, ambiguity, and truth? The "Art in the Twenty-First Century" documentary “Paradox” explores these questions in the work of the artists Allora & Calzadilla, Mark Bradford, Robert Ryman, and Catherine Sullivan.  Join us for a "brown bag" lunch, refreshments, a movie, craft and discussion... for adults interested in Art. 
Over the past decade, Art21 has established itself as the preeminent chronicler of contemporary art and artists through its Peabody Award-winning biennial television series, "Art in the Twenty-First Century." The nonprofit organization has used the power of digital media to introduce millions of people of all ages to contemporary art and artists and has created a new paradigm for teaching and learning about the creative process.  Co-Sponsored by the Rowayton Arts Center.

Thursday morning, April 25 @ 7:30am: Business & Bagels – Running Your Business from Anywhere




Join us at the Rowayton Library for Business & Bagels on Thursday morning, April 25 @ 7:30am for our quarterly business workshop.  This session will explore Ten Top Tips for small business to save time and money. You will learn about:  Better serving your customers by phone, email and social media; Taking your office on the road;  Doing business from anywhere.  Our presenter, Mary Anne Mendola Franco, is Head of Network Services at The Wilton Library Association.  Among her responsibilities is the development of social media programs.  She will share simple techniques that can help you streamline your business.  Mary Anne’s undergraduate degree is from New York University.  She has a graduate degree in Library Science from C. W. Friday, April 19: Spring Vacation MovieTime – Double Feature



          The Rowayton Parents Exchange is partnering with the Rowayton Library with MovieTime for Kids with "The Land Before Time" (rated G) @ 2pm.  The runtime is 69 minutes.
This 1988 animated feature focuses on an orphaned young dinosaur, Littlefoot, who has to make his way to the paradise of the Great Valley in order to survive a plague. Along the way, he meets up with some other dinos from different species, and they all bond and travel together. On the way, they have plenty of adventures.  Kids will like the originality of the concept, and the themes of friendship and cooperation are well woven into the fabric of the entertainment, plus the music is great.
The Rowayton Parents Exchange is partnering with the Rowayton Library with MovieTime for Kids with "A Monster in Paris" (rated PG) @ 3:30pm.  The runtime is 87 minutes.
Paris, 1910. Panic sweeps the city as floodwaters rise and a monster is on the loose!   Meanwhile a wacky inventor, his camera-crazy best friend, and a madcap monkey are on a mission to protect the beast, Franc, as he holds a rare and special talent. With the help of the beautiful but feisty singer Lucille, the team harbors the monster to keep him from the ghastly wannabe Mayor, Commissioner Maynott, who has a plan to capture Franc and reveal him to be nothing more than a monstrous danger to the people of Paris.
Popcorn will be served.  This program is free and open to the public.

Thursday, April 18 @ 11:30am – Senior Safety Issues Seminar



          There are many questions surrounding the issues facing aging seniors.  Family & Children’s Agency is here to speak to you about them. Wednesday, April 17 @ 7pm – Great Decisions – China in Africa



Topic:  China in Africa - What interests govern China’s engagement in Africa? Should China’s growing emphasis on political ties and natural resource extraction inform U.S. relations with African nations?
The Rowayton Library’s Great Decisions Discussion Group meets on alternating Wednesday evenings at 7 pm. Developed by the Foreign Policy Association, the Great Decisions Discussion Program is the oldest and largest grass-roots world affairs education program of its kind in the country. The Great Decisions Discussion Program is FPA's public education initiative to create more informed and engaged citizens by bringing people together to discuss U.S. foreign policy and global affairs issues. The session topics include:  China in Africa, and Threat Assessment. Materials are provided to participants and are available at the Rowayton Library. This program is free and open to the public.
