Join young readers of Rowayton in the Summer Reading Challenge, “Dig into Reading.” Readers of all ages as well as young listeners are invited to participate. Every 25 pages will be counted as one (1) book and prizes will be awarded to children ages 3 and up for every five (5) books they read (or have read to them) and record in their summer reading log books. SummerTime is FunTime. Make sure you make room for the fun of reading!
MovieTime for Kids – Friday, June 21 @ 2pm: Land Before Time II – The Great Valley Adventure
The Rowayton Parents Exchange is partnering with the Rowayton Library with MovieTime for Kids on Friday afternoon, June 21 at 2 pm with “Land Before Time 2 – The Great Valley Adventure.” Runtime is 73 minutes
Young brontosaurus Littlefoot and his pals venture out of the Great Valley into the Mysterious Beyond and encounter a T-rex and a pair of omnivores who just want to be friendly. The gang learns how hard it is to be a kid on one's own in a scary place--what with landslides and ferocious "sharptooths."
Popcorn will be served. The movie is rated G. This program is free and open to the public.
Summer Solstice with Dre Towey, Thursday, June 20 @ 10:30am
Come celebrate the first day of summer with Dre Towey and friends at the Rowayton Library, Thursday morning, June 20 @ 10:30am Summer Solstice Celebration. Summer Solstice celebrations date back to ancient times. Here in Rowayton we have created our own tradition with music and stories from award winning musician Dre Towey and the African drums and rhythms of Kwame Henry Jones. Everyone is invited. There will be refreshments, crafts, music, song, dance and fun for kids (and their families) of all ages.

Fairy Yarn Mothers Knitting for Kids, Thursday, June 13 @ 3:30pm
The Rowayton Library continues with its KnittingTime once a month with NancyJo Rambusch for kids ages 8 & UP. This program is designed to help kid knitters of all skill levels work on their projects. As space is limited, please make a reservation. Bring your own needles and projects. First time students to our KnittingTime program will be provided with a pair of knitting needles and yarn to start learning or working on a project. This program is free and open to the public.
Shred Day, Saturday, June 8 @ 9am-12 Noon
Come to the Rowayton Library and Shred All Your Documents for FREE courtesy of Fairfield County Bank – Help Keep Your Identity Safe and the Environment Sound, 9am-12 Noon at the Rowayton Library’s courtyard on Saturday, June 8. The Shred Truck will be there. This program is free and open to the public.
PlayTalk with Mark Schenker, Friday, June 7 @ 7pm
In order to help you prepare for Shakespeare on the Sound’s “As You Like It” opening next week in Pinkney Park, the Rowayton Library will present an intimate look into “As You Like It “ on Friday, June 7 at 7pm with Mark Schenker. Copies of “As You Like It” are available at the Library and you can download a free eBook at the library’s website www.Rowayton.org. It is not necessary to read the play in advance. This program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. And, of course, we will end with our annual Shakespeare Play Trivia with prizes from Shakespeare on the Sound.
Shakespeare for Kids, Wednesday, June 5 @ 3:30pm
Join Shakespeare on the Sound teaching artist Jo Anne Parady at the Rowayton Library to learn about the plot and characters from "As You Like It"! Children ages 4+ are perfect for this interactive workshop that gets everyone on their feet, utilizing their voices and bodies and getting to know the wonderfully comedic characters of 'As You Like It'! Jo Anne Parady, actress and writer, is currently working with the Theatre Artists Workshop in Norwalk. She has directed many plays at the Workshop for their Playwrights Festival and Classic Night series, and produced “Othello” at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in which she also played Emilia. She is a writer/performer in MOMOIRS: THE UMBILICAL CORD STOPS HERE, which has been performed in and around Fairfield County and at the Zipper Theatre in NYC as part of the Mamapalooza Festival. She has a long list of regional theatre credits including National Shakespeare Company (NYC), Theatre at Monmouth (ME), Champlain Shakespeare Festival (VT), St. Alban’s Repertory Theatre (DC) and Shakespeare on the Sound (CT). Jo Anne is a member of AEA and AFTRA, former President of the Theatre Artists Workshop. This program is free and open to the public.
